The Pantanal is one of the world’s largest tropical wetland areas. Located mostly within the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but extending into Mato Grosso and portions of Bolivia and Paraguay, the Pantanal sprawls over an area estimated at between 54,000 and 75,000 sq mi (140,000 and 195,000 square kilometers). About 80% of the Pantanal floodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons, nurturing an astonishing biologically diverse collection of aquatic plants and helping to support a dense array of animal species. This Portuguese language video will take you on a jaguar safari and introduce you to the wonders of these incredible lands. Even without speaking Portuguese the message will be compelling.
